Estancia en Tánger:
Visitó Tánger en torno a 1880 con el también fotógrafo J. Valentine. Durante su estancia se dedicaron a realizar fotografias que luego venderían como postales en Londres. Wilson retrató diversas escenas cotidianas de la vida marroquí, así como sus calles más pintorescas.
Biografía:
Entre los años 1850 y 1900 su compañía, Wilson & Co., cubrió gráficamente casi toda Escocia, parte de Inglaterra y Gales, el Sur de España, Gibraltar, Marruecos, la Sur África colonial y Australia. Wilson fue denominado como fotógrafo de su Majestad en Escocia y lideró una de las compañías de producción y edición fotográfica mas importante del mundo, con un legado de unas 40.000 placas de negativos que en la actualidad se conservan en la Universidad de Aberdeen.
